Letting Go of Outward Strongholds
Let go of worldly things and prepare for God to come in your life.
Jeremiah 31:31-34 (ESV)
The New Covenant
31 “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, 32 not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. 33 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
Heavenly Father and Holy God,
I thank You for being the Rainbow that declares that the floods of life—though they may swell—shall not overtake me.
I thank You for being the Ram in the Bush that took the place of our own death, causing us and calling us to be abundantly blessed.
I thank You for being the Rod and the Staff that comfort in any mountain and valley, and for being the Hands that mended my broken pieces and the Finger of love that wrote on my broken heart, especially when I disobeyed Your will.
Thank You for being the Stone that stumbled my enemy and for being the Sword that silenced his accusations.
For being the One who gladly hung from the Cross, proudly laid in the tomb and gloriously rose from the dead, to You I give all honor, all glory, and all praise. I praise You for the wonderful works You have done and for the works yet to come.
Deposit in me what’s needed for today. Deposit it in my mind, heart, body and spirit. I pray your peace overtakes me causing me to not worry about what’s needed for tomorrow, for all my trust is in Your hands and I know You will never leave me or forsake me.
I thank You for covenant relationship: for desiring to be committed to my life and dedicated to my purpose; for desiring to be faithful to me, especially when I didn’t do the same. Teach me the secret of commitment. Help me to be committed to You, Your Church, Your people and help me to stay committed to this glorious consecration that is destined to change my life.
Deal with my default settings, Lord. When I mess up, when I fall short, when I miss the mark, help me not to allow disappointment and distress cause me to shrink back to my wounded default settings. Allow Your precious Holy Spirit to cultivate a spirit of discipline within me that will allow Jesus to bring healing to my wounds.
Remind me that this is not a ten day program or a twelve step program. This is not a “lose weight quick” program or another commercialized health kick. Remind me that this is an intentioned effort to draw closer to my Lord and Savior and the transformative power He offers.
Lord, You are welcome to enter into my routine, my regiment, my way of doing things and even my insecurities and hesitations. You are welcomed into my space, that Your will may be accomplished and perfected in my life.
Now Lord, come into these areas of my life:_______________________ (Personally insert areas of your life you need God to transform i.e. health, finances, relationships, etc.).
I pray that Your Glory be revealed in and through me. In the name of Jesus, Our Covenant Keeper, Amen.
